‘Made in Syria’ Festival Supports Families During Ramadan

Festival kicked off at the old Damascus Fairground under the slogan “Ramadan Charity Market.” Organized by the Damascus and Countryside Chamber of Industry in cooperation with the Ministry of Awqaf and the Damascus Governorate, the event features 150 Syrian companies and will continue until the 25th of Ramadan.

Festival Objectives

The festival aims to meet the needs of Syrian families during the holy month by offering a wide range of locally produced goods at reduced prices under the “from producer to consumer” principle. The initiative seeks to shorten supply chains and ease household financial burdens.

Products on display cover several sectors, including chemical industries such as cleaning products and cosmetics, food products, textile goods including clothing and carpets, and engineering industries such as household tools.

Official Participation and Support for Local Products

Damascus Governor Maher Marwan Idelbi highlighted the importance of such initiatives in meeting community needs while promoting national industry. He noted that discounts of up to 30% are available and that similar events may be organized in the future.

Assistant Minister of Awqaf Samer Berakdar said the festival reflects a spirit of solidarity between merchants and citizens, emphasizing the values of compassion associated with the holy month.

Mohamed Ayman al-Molawi, head of the Damascus and Countryside Chamber of Industry, said the participation of numerous companies demonstrates strong support for local products. He added that oversight committees have been formed to ensure exhibitors adhere to the announced discounted prices.

Extensive Offers and Discounts

The festival features discounts ranging from 10%-40% on hundreds of locally produced items. Marline Shaaban, a marketing representative for a food company participating in the event, said the festival provides an opportunity for direct communication with consumers while offering encouraging discounts on over 90 products.

Abeer Assaliyeh, representing a chemical products company, said visitors are able to learn about high-quality detergents and cosmetics offered at discounts between 20%-40%. Sales representative Moayad Nader said such initiatives strengthen social solidarity by helping support Syrian families, particularly those with limited incomes.

Meeting Consumer Needs

Visitors noted that prices at the festival are competitive, in many cases close to wholesale levels and lower than prices in retail markets.

Hassan al-Turk, Adham al-Ahmad and Wafa Muhammad said these initiatives help stimulate consumer activity while improving market balance by offering a variety of products at reasonable prices and acceptable quality, allowing families to choose according to their needs.

The “Ramadan Charity Market” welcomes visitors daily from 12 p.m. to midnight, serving as a major shopping destination for Syrian families during Ramadan while supporting local industry and national products.
