Today, the General Security Service (GSS) released a statement regarding a recent security campaign against collaborators with the criminal Assad regime and suspects in the central region of Idlib. The statement, issued on December 27, 2023, detailed the ongoing efforts of the GSS to combat espionage and subversive activities in the region.
The GSS, in continuation of a security campaign that began in June of 2023, revealed that new information had been obtained indicating the involvement of several civilians with a spy cell working for the Assad regime. As a result, the GSS conducted an extensive security operation, leading to the arrest of 25 individuals suspected of collaborating with the regime. These individuals have been transferred to the relevant authorities for further investigation.
The statement also reassured the people in the liberated areas that the GSS remains committed to protecting them and maintaining the security of the region and emphasized their role as a vigilant guardian, dedicated to safeguarding the interests of the people and thwarting any attempts to undermine the liberated areas.
Furthermore, the statement issued a stern warning to the Assad regime, its allies, and supporters, asserting that the GSS will take decisive action against anyone attempting to disrupt the revolution and its objectives. It highlighted the resilience of the Syrian revolution in the face of malicious attempts to destroy their work and praised the steadfastness and unity of the people in the wake of such challenges.
Dia al-Omar, the Public Security Service spokesman, reiterated the GSS’s unwavering commitment to upholding security and stability in the region. The recent security campaign and subsequent arrests underscore the GSS’s determination to combat threats posed by collaborators and spies whether with the criminal regime or external parties.
