The Syrian Salvation Government’s (SSG) Ministry of Development and Humanitarian Affairs has initiated the second phase of its Warmth of Winter Campaign in north-western Syria. This phase of the campaign aims to provide essential support to approximately 10,000 families residing in the liberated areas, particularly those facing dire circumstances due to the harsh winter weather.

Assistant Minister of Development and Humanitarian Affairs, Mr. Khalid Al-Omar, emphasized the critical need for this initiative as the region grapples with the impact of weather depressions. He highlighted the challenging circumstances faced by the liberated areas, where humanitarian organizations are unable to fully address the pressing needs of the population. In response to this gap, the Ministry has taken proactive steps to alleviate the suffering of vulnerable groups, including those residing in IDP camps and impoverished families.

The focus of the Warmth of Winter Campaign is to extend assistance to individuals and families who are not adequately served by existing humanitarian organizations. By targeting camps and towns that have been overlooked, the Ministry aims to ensure that no one is left without essential support during the harsh winter season.

Mr. Al-Omar underscored the campaign’s primary objective of mitigating the hardships faced by the local population, particularly in light of the exorbitant cost of living, limited employment opportunities, and the challenges associated with acquiring heating materials due to their inflated prices. The Ministry’s efforts are geared towards providing tangible relief to those grappling with the repercussions of extreme cold and the economic strains exacerbated by the winter season.

The launch of the second phase of the Warmth of Winter Campaign underscores the SSG’s unwavering commitment to addressing the urgent needs of its people. By extending crucial support to vulnerable families and individuals, the Ministry of Development and Humanitarian Affairs is demonstrating a dedication to alleviating the suffering caused by the harsh winter conditions and economic hardships prevalent in the region.

As the campaign unfolds, it is expected to make a meaningful impact on the lives of thousands of families, offering them much-needed respite from the challenges posed by the winter season. According to Al-Omar, the Ministry’s proactive approach and commitment to serving the most vulnerable members of society exemplify its steadfast resolve to uphold the welfare and well-being of the population in north-western Syria.
