Military units from the Fath al-Mubeen Operations Room (FMOR) launched a targeted attack on Iranian troops occupying the city of Saraqib in Syria’s Idlib province on Wednesday, July 3. The operation, which focused on the center and outskirts of the city, marked a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict in northern Syria.

According to sources close to the FMOR on the Telegram messaging app, the operation involved a number of fighters who successfully struck regime forces’ positions before returning to their headquarters without suffering any injuries. The attackers targeted artillery positions and launchers of the regime forces with rocket launchers and artillery shells around Saraqib, resulting in several casualties among regime troops.

One of the key incidents in the operation was the destruction of a vehicle belonging to a regime officer in the center of Saraqib by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) fighters, causing injuries to the officer and several of his escorts. Additionally, an Iranian Republican Guard Corps (IRGC) headquarters within the city was obliterated by artillery fire.

Saraqib is often used as a launching pad for the Assad regime and Iranian militias to launch attacks on civilians in Idlib with the neighboring Afes village frequently coming under attack from the occupied city. Tuesday, the day before the FMOR operation, several “suicide” drones were launched from Saraqib against the civilians in the area.

Yesterday evening, Assad regime forces launched an intense bombardment on the town of Sarmin, east of Idlib City, leading to civilian casualties. Locals reported that the missile strikes coincided with ongoing violent clashes between FMOR fighters and regime forces on the Saraqib axis.

The repeated missile bombardment resulted in significant damage and civilian casualties. Reports indicated that the bombardment was part of a broader regime offensive in the region, including the use of FPV suicide drones on the Majdlaya-Saan axis, west of Saraqib.

In a related development, regime forces targeted a Turkish military point north of Idlib on Tuesday morning. Heavy artillery shells were directed at the Turkish base near Maarat al-Nasan, and four drones were launched in the eastern countryside, one of which struck a civilian vehicle, causing minor injuries to the driver.

The regime’s assault extended beyond Idlib, with mortar and artillery strikes reported in the vicinity of Bala village in western Aleppo and the outskirts of Al-Kabana in Jabal Al-Akrad, north of Latakia.
