The Syrian Salvation Government (SSG) issued a strong statement condemning recent military escalations in northwestern Syria, particularly in Idlib, where civilians have faced intensified bombardment from both Iranian-backed militias and Russian aircraft. The government holds the occupation forces and their allies responsible for the humanitarian crisis, which includes the displacement of many families in search of safety.

The statement, released by the Department of Political Affairs of the SSG, describes the situation as “dangerous” and cites recent Russian air raids that targeted densely populated areas in and around the city of Idlib. Over twenty airstrikes were reported on October 14 alone, coinciding with a visit by UN officials to the region.

According to the statement, the continuous attacks have led to significant civilian casualties, material destruction, and a heightened state of fear among the local population. These repeated attacks have not only caused the deaths and injuries of many but have also triggered a wave of displacement, as residents flee in search of safer areas.

“This criminal escalation is worsening the already dire conditions our people are enduring,” the statement read. It further accused the occupation forces of deliberately increasing pressure on the besieged areas, intensifying what it described as “systematic terrorism” aimed at isolating civilians.

The SSG affirmed its commitment to defending its people and land by all legitimate means and vowed to continue its efforts until the region`s liberation is achieved. The statement also called for international attention to the ongoing crisis, emphasizing that the situation has reached a critical point that demands urgent action. With the violence continuing to escalate, the statement closed with a call for perseverance in what the government described as a struggle for liberation and the restoration of rights.
