The Department of Political Affairs of the Syrian Salvation Government (SSG), released a powerful statement Friday addressing the ongoing military developments and the plight of the Syrian people. The statement, directed to both the Syrian people and the international community, emphasized the necessity of the Repelling Aggression campaign launched by revolutionary forces to counter escalating attacks by the Assad regime and their allied militias.
The SSG’s statement framed the ongoing military campaign as a just response to years of oppression and crimes by the Assad regime and its Iranian-backed allies. “The military forces have had to act to halt aggression, protect our land, and defend innocent civilians,” the statement declared. It called the operation a “battle for justice and dignity,” launched solely to defend oppressed Syrians.
The statement denied accusations that revolutionary forces had received external support, calling such claims baseless propaganda spread by regime-aligned media. “This effort was undertaken independently to protect our people and our homeland,” it read.
The SSG accused the Assad regime of perpetuating chaos in the region, citing its role as a hub for drug trafficking, human rights violations, and political obstructionism. The statement noted the regime’s refusal to engage in meaningful efforts to resolve the Syrian crisis or address the Syrian people’s demands for freedom and dignity.
“The international community must recognize that Assad’s regime continues to be a source of instability and suffering,” the statement said, urging world leaders to hold the regime accountable for its crimes.
The SSG’s Department of Political Affairs called on global media outlets, human rights organizations, and journalists to approach the Syrian conflict with “professionalism and objectivity.” The statement implored them to amplify the voices of Syrians and expose the devastating impact of the Assad regime and its Russian and Iranian allies and militias.
“Syrian blood has been shed for too long,” the statement read. “We urge the international community to stand with the Syrian people in their quest for freedom, justice, and dignity.”
Concluding on a note of defiance and hope, the SSG reaffirmed its commitment to the Syrian revolution. “The blessed Syrian revolution will persist as a beacon fueled by the blood of heroes, the tears of mothers, and the prayers of the elderly,” the statement declared. “The Syrian revolution will triumph, God willing.”
