The Minister of Economy and Industry, Dr. Muhammad al-Shaar, and the Governor of Aleppo, Azam al-Ghareeb, held an extensive meeting with a high-level delegation from the Turkish Businessmen Association (MÜSİAD) to explore economic and investment cooperation and open avenues for partnership between the two sides.
During the meeting, both sides discussed reconstruction projects, infrastructure development, and enhancing commercial and industrial activity in Aleppo, as well as mechanisms to increase investment opportunities to support the local economy and improve living conditions for residents.
Expanding Joint Cooperation
Ghareeb met with the Turkish delegation in the presence of his deputies for investment and trade, as well as representatives from the industrial and commercial chambers in Aleppo. The Vice President of MÜSİAD, Selim Bashdemir, indicated that the association intends to open new offices in Aleppo and Damascus across seven different sectors in addition to its existing office in the city of Azaz.
Bashdemir clarified that the association includes more than 6,000 companies and that Aleppo represents “the heart of the Syrian economy” for Turkey, expressing optimism for a new phase of cooperation.
Strategic Partnership
Engineer Imad Taha al-Qasem, President of the Aleppo Chamber of Industry, explained that this meeting is the fourth with MÜSİAD, confirming that the current phase has shifted from coordination to direct executive action.
Engineer Ahmad Kurdiya, Director of the Industrial City in Sheikh Najjar, noted that the delegation was briefed on available investment opportunities within the industrial city, where executable projects were presented to support economic cooperation.
For their part, members of the Turkish delegation affirmed that the upcoming phase will witness the opening of new companies and factories in partnership with Syrian businessmen, contributing to an economic revival that benefits both peoples.
Preparation for the First Investment Conference in Aleppo
Hazem Lutfi, Deputy Governor of Aleppo for Investment Affairs, revealed preparations for launching the first investment conference in Aleppo next month. Lutfi stated that the conference aims to support the national economy by opening new investment horizons across various sectors, including industrial, commercial, medical, agricultural, and real estate.
He emphasized that the conference will serve as a platform to encourage Syrian and foreign businessmen and investors to participate in rebuilding Aleppo and enhancing its role as the economic capital of the country. It is noteworthy that several meetings have brought together the Syrian and Turkish sides to discuss cooperation in the economic and investment fields between the two countries since Syria’s liberation and the fall of the Assad regime.
