An Egyptian trade delegation consisting of 10 leading companies is participating in the 62nd Damascus International Fair, representing diverse economic sectors including food, chemical, wood, and building materials industries. This move aims to open new horizons for economic cooperation with Syria.
Remarkable Egyptian Presence Despite Challenges
Hatim Fouad, director of the Egyptian pavilion at the fair, explained that this year’s Egyptian participation included 10 companies. He noted that many other companies were interested in participating, but the short period between the invitation and the opening of the fair prevented them from attending.
Fouad added, “The fair is an important opportunity to expand the horizons of cooperation between Egypt and Syria and increase mutual investments,” calling on Syrian companies to participate in upcoming Egyptian fairs to enhance trade exchange between the two countries.
Building Strategic Partnerships
For his part, Muhammad al-Tajouri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Tajouri Group of Companies, specializing in the production of building materials in Egypt and the UAE, emphasized that the goal of taking part is forging partnerships between Egyptian and Syrian companies and creating strategic trade relations between the two countries.
Tajouri indicated the exhibition is an essential platform for the new Syria, seeking to regain its position in the Arab region after a period of isolation. He expects the business sector in Syria will witness a broad opening in the coming days.
Promising Cooperation Opportunities
For his part, Muhammad Ali, Sales Manager of Al-Ashry Steel Company, emphasized that participating in the exhibition after a long hiatus represents a valuable opportunity to meet with officials and expand the international cooperation.
Ali explained that his company, which includes six factories specializing in the production of various types of steel, held meetings with the Syrian Ministries of Economy and Industry, Transport, and Housing to discuss ways of joint cooperation.
Egypt’s participation in the Damascus International Fair represents an important step toward strengthening economic cooperation between the countries. While opening new horizons for a strategic partnership during Syria’s ongoing reconstruction phase, contributing to the support of the Egyptian and Syrian economies and enhancing Arab economic integration.
