Head of the Irbid Chamber of Industry and the vice president of the Jordan Chamber of Industry, Hani Abu Hassan, revealed joint efforts by the chambers of industry and commerce in both countries to prepare commodity lists serving the interests of both parties and ensuring a balance between local markets and industries. This step aims to strengthen economic relations between Syria and Jordan.
This came during Abu Hassan’s visit to the Syria Build International Construction Exhibition held at the Damascus Fairgrounds. He stressed trade exchange between the two countries has witnessed a significant improvement in recent months, especially after the reopening of border crossings. Abu Hassan underlined the importance of boosting trade relations and expanding industrial cooperation.
Syrian-Jordanian economic relations are based on strong factors, most notably geographical proximity and social ties, which facilitate the movement of goods and enhance exchange opportunities in vital sectors such as construction, electricity, and health.
Abu Hassan described the Syria Build exhibition as a strategic platform for exploring the latest construction technologies, praising the broad participation of Arab and foreign companies, which allows Jordanian industrialists to get acquainted with the requirements of the Syrian market and expand cooperation.
He also pointed out the Syrian market is undergoing a major reconstruction phase, emphasizing that Jordan possesses high-quality industrial expertise which can effectively contribute to supporting this phase.
According to official Jordanian data, the volume of trade between the two countries increased by 100% during the first seven months of this year. Jordanian imports from Syria reached 62 million dinars, compared to 31 million dinars last year, while Jordanian exports to Syria reached 130 million dinars, compared to 26 million dinars during the same period last year.
