For the first time in its history, Syria is participating in GITEX GLOBAL Dubai 2025, the world’s largest event for innovation and entrepreneurship. Under the slogan “Syria is Online,” the Syrian pavilion highlights the nation’s growing digital presence through the creativity and technical expertise of its engineers and entrepreneurs. The participation is organized through a collaboration between SYNC, BuildUP, and the US-Syrian Business Council (USSYBC), with support from Syrian business leaders around the world.
Building Global Partnerships and Digital Bridges
The pavilion serves as a hub connecting Syrian talent across borders, featuring pioneering technology projects and innovative solutions that demonstrate the potential of Syria’s tech community to contribute to the global digital ecosystem.
The Syrian pavilion aims to foster cooperation between international companies and Syrian innovators by promoting knowledge exchange, encouraging investment, and building strategic partnerships. The initiative seeks to solidify Syria’s position as an emerging digital player both regionally and internationally.
Putting Syria Back on the ‘Innovation Map’
Basil Yasin Ojjeh, co-founder of SYNC and organizer of the Syrian Pavilion, said, “Our participation in GITEX is not just a pavilion, but a clear message that Syrian minds are capable of competing and innovating at the heart of the global digital revolution. We want to put Syria’s name back on the innovation map and show the world that its people are actively contributing to shaping the future of technology.”
Ziad Ghaloul, founder and CEO of BuildUP, added that they were proud to support the “historic participation,” marking the first presence of the Syrian digital community at GITEX Global. The experience, he posits reflects Syria’s belief in “Syrian talent” inside and outside of the country, while opening new horizons for innovation and creating quality job opportunities.
The USSYBC described the Syrian pavilion as “a model of what can be achieved through cooperation between the private sector and Syrian technology organizations.” The council reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that empower Syrian professionals to access global markets and partnerships.
