Syrian Honey Festival Promotes “Liquid Gold” as an Economic Resource

The sixth Syrian Honey Festival was a prominent economic and developmental event reflecting efforts to develop and enhance the beekeeping sector. Organized by the Syrian branch of the Arab Beekeepers Union in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD), the festival offered an important marketing and competitive platform. Bringing together sixty-five companies and beekeepers, it facilitated the display of products, the exchange of expertise, and direct interaction with consumers.

Product Diversity and Innovation

The festival highlighted the richness of Syrian honey through a wide range of products. Exhibitors showcased different varieties, including mountain, citrus, eucalyptus, and sidr honey, as well as white honey and natural therapeutic blends. The displays extended beyond honey itself to include care products derived from beeswax and royal jelly. Innovative items such as natural honey drinks, honey butter, honey chocolate, and honey mixtures with herbs and nuts also attracted significant attention from visitors.

The event served as a vital meeting place for beekeepers, researchers, and commercial entities. ACSAD participated with a dedicated pavilion presenting its latest research in beekeeping, aimed at developing value-added products that support producers’ incomes. Participants, including Jalal Qasou from Qasou al-Baladi Company and Omar Taji from Abi Taji Company, emphasized the festival’s important role in exchanging expertise, improving packaging methods, and ensuring quality in line with international standards, all of which contribute to strengthening the sector.

Remarkable Turnout and Future Prospects

The festival recorded a strong turnout from citizens, researchers, and interested Arab delegations, confirming its significance as a purchasing platform and a space for direct communication between producers and consumers. Exhibitors such as Issam Kallas from Wadi Doan Company noted that the event opened new horizons for cooperation and export. Beekeepers including Ibrahim Zaidan and Manal Muammar pointed out the growing interest among visitors in learning about different types of Syrian honey and their health benefits, helping to reinforce awareness of the product’s quality.

The Syrian Honey Festival stands as an important step in strengthening the position of Syrian honey locally and internationally. In addition to being a marketing platform, it encourages improved production quality and builds consumer confidence. This annual event supports beekeepers and promotes a vital sector contributing to the economy and helping maintain ecological balance.
