In a continuation of efforts to reinforce cooperation between the two countries, Chairman of the Central Board of Control and Inspection in Syria Amer al-Ali and his accompanying delegation followed their MENA-ARIN Jeddah trip with a meeting with the Undersecretary for International Cooperation at the Saudi Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) in Riyadh.
The meeting, held at Nazaha’s headquarters, focused on enhancing joint coordination, reviewing institutional experiences, and exchanging best practices in anti-corruption oversight. Discussions centered on improving performance, increasing efficiency, and promoting integrity and transparency within public institutions in both countries.
Expanding the Scope of Coordination
This meeting builds upon the ongoing dialogue between the two oversight authorities. Ali and Dr. Mazen bin Ibrahim al-Kahmous, chairman of Nazaha, in Jeddah met on the sidelines of the first annual meeting of the MENA-ARIN Network.
During that encounter, both sides explored new areas for cooperation, including combating corruption in all its forms, strengthening mechanisms for asset recovery, and exchanging expertise to enhance the capabilities of national oversight.
Advancing Regional Oversight and Integrity
Officials from both countries described these meetings as a qualitative step forward in bilateral collaboration on oversight and anti-corruption efforts. The outcomes are expected to contribute significantly to detecting and preventing illegal practices through better information exchange, improved institutional coordination, and the adoption of successful global practices.
The initiatives are also seen as a means of establishing mutual trust and strengthening joint Arab action—serving the broader interests of both nations and contributing to regional stability and development.
Shared Commitment to Good Governance
Both sides reaffirmed that international and regional cooperation forms a cornerstone of their oversight strategies. By consolidating the values of integrity, transparency, and accountability, these efforts aim to protect public funds and promote good governance. Officials emphasized that deepening this partnership between Riyadh and Damascus will help advance sustainable development goals and improve the overall well-being of both countries.
