Spring Festival: A Cultural Window into Hama’s Heritage

The Hama Spring Festival is an annual commercial, tourism, and cultural celebration that serves as a platform to support local products contributing to enhancing tourism marketing and positively impacting commercial activity in the governorate.

The activities of the 26th Hama Spring Festival commenced on September 9, attended by Minister of Information Hamza Mustafa, along with various official and popular figures.

Hama Governor Abdurahman al-Suhayan emphasized during the festival’s commencement that the governorate has never been ordinary due to its location and history; rather, it has always been a vibrant heart on economic, civilizational, and humanitarian levels.

Today, post liberation, its strategic role is more firmly established, positioning it as a gateway for development, a center for balance, and a launching point towards a future worthy of its ancient status.

He clarified that the launch of this event represents a new birth for the city from the ruins of suffering and a revival of hope from the heart of adversity, restoring its historical glory, societal status, and economic role.

Marathon Within the Festival

The Athletics Committee in Hama, in cooperation with the Directorate of Sports and Youth in the governorate, organized a marathon as part of the accompanying sports activities of the festival.

Nasser Kurdi, head of the Athletics Committee, said the marathon saw participation from 80 athletes from younger age groups, along with several track and field athletes and sports enthusiasts, creating a distinctive atmosphere of excitement. Kurdi pointed out that the goal of the marathon race is to instill a love for sports in the new generation.

Syrian Talents in Hama

Students from the Arab Women’s Association schools presented an event titled “Syrian Talents in Hama” as part of the activities. The event included a gymnastics performance and a theatrical scene in English titled “Martyr of the Revolution,” conveying a message of reassurance to every martyr that Syrians have not forgotten the blood of those who sacrificed their souls for the victory of the blessed Syrian revolution.

Hama’s Cultural Salon

The Hama Cultural Salon is one of the significant events accompanying the annual event/ Abdullah al-Ismail, head of the youth department at the Directorate of Political Affairs and director of the Hama Cultural Salon, explained that the salon provides a free space for dialogue covering various cultural, intellectual, economic, and historical topics relevant to citizens from different segments of society, backgrounds and interests.

Ismail indicated the salon reviews important and urgent topics concerning the Syrian situation, in general, and Hama specifically, contributing to enriching the festival intellectually and culturally.

The festival will continue until September 22 and includes artistic performances, theatrical acts, entertainment segments for children, cultural competitions for adults and children alike, as well as heritage activities featuring traditional Hama attire, a book fair, and a handicrafts market.
