Jordan Strengthens Syrian Economic Presence via Damascus International Fair


Forty-two Jordanian companies participated in the 62nd Damascus International Fair, a move aimed at strengthening trade and investment cooperation between the neighboring countries. This broad participation, included leading companies in the food, chemical, cosmetic, plastic, and packaging industries, as well as banking, medical, and information technology services, reflecting Jordan’s commitment to strengthening its economic presence in the Syrian market.

Strategic Vision to Promote Economic Integration

Alaa Saado, Executive Director of the Business Sector at the Bank of Jordan, emphasized in a special statement that this participation “reflects the extent of Jordan’s commitment to contributing to achieving a shared economic vision between the two countries,” noting the importance of “supporting inter-trade and remittances between Jordan and Syria.” Saado added, “We aspire to be a pivotal part of the financial infrastructure for trade exchange with Syria and other countries in the region, through an integrated strategy based on the bank’s experience and regional expansion in several countries.”

Strategic Return to the Syrian Market

For his part, Naim al-Hawari, CEO of the National Cable and Wire Manufacturing Company (KIPCO), emphasized that this participation represents “a strategic return to the Syrian market, following its last participation in 2009.” Hawari pointed out that “this participation opens the doors to cooperation with new partners to meet the future needs of both countries and increase investment opportunities.” He noted “the remarkable organization of the exhibition and the large public turnout reflects the recovery of economic life in Syria and sends positive messages about the growing opportunities for regional cooperation.”

Serving the Syrian Consumer

For her part, the sales manager at Delta Industrial Company, specializing in packaging dried milk, butter, and ghee, explained that the company “aspires to offer its products at competitive prices and high quality making them accessible to Syrian consumers.” She emphasized that “this step confirms the company’s readiness to expand its business within Syria and support the food sector.”

Promoting Exports and Jordanian Economic Presence

Salama al-Louzi, Public Relations and Media Officer at the Jordanian Export House, the implementing agency for the Jordanian pavilion, explained the goal of participation is “to strengthen Jordan’s economic presence in the Syrian market, open new horizons for companies to increase their exports, and highlight the quality and competitiveness of Jordanian products in various fields.”

Pivotal Platform for Strategic Partnerships

Jordan’s extensive participation in the Damascus International Fair acts as a pivotal platform for attracting investments and building strategic partnerships, integrating Jordanian and Syrian visions for a stable and prosperous economic future serving the people of the region. Participation also reflects the government’s efforts to facilitate trade and investment between the two countries and underscores the depth of economic relations between Jordan and Syria.

Bolstering the economy via international trade contributes to reconstruction efforts in Syria and opens new horizons for economic cooperation between the two nations, serving the interests of both while establishing a new phase of regional economic integration.
