On Tuesday, the security services in Iraq thwarted the smuggling of large amounts of medical supplies coming from Syria that was heading to Iraq.
The Directorate of Military Intelligence in Iraq said in a statement on Tuesday, that “a force from the Directorate of Military Intelligence conducted a preemptive intelligence operation and managed to thwart the smuggling process of large quantities of various medical supplies, coming from Syria to the Nineveh Governorate through the Rabia border crossing.”
In their statement, the Directorate affirmed that the security forces had arrested two collaborators and smugglers and seized the smuggled medical supplies.
The Directorate pointed out that “the smuggled medical supplies were estimated to be about 300 boxes of various types, to be delivered to the Nineveh Control Office.”
This comes at a time when the Syrian people are suffering from extreme difficulty in securing medicine, most of which, have recently increased in price.
