The city of Darat Izza in the western countryside of Aleppo has become the latest target of regime forces wielding deadly suicide drones, leaving a civilian dead and instigating widespread fear among residents. This marks a grim escalation in tactics by the Assad regime and its allies, including Russian and Iranian forces, amid the ongoing conflict in Syria.

According to local sources, regime forces launched ten suicide drones, targeting various areas around Darat Izza. Tragically, a shepherd lost his life in the assault, underscoring the indiscriminate nature of these attacks. The victim, identified only as “a civilian who was tending to sheep grazing on the outskirts of Darat Izza,” was struck by a suicide drone while going about his daily activities. Syria Civil Defense, also known as the White Helmets, confirmed the incident, highlighting the perilous conditions faced by the people in northwestern Syria.

The use of suicide drones poses a serious threat to civilian populations, with attacks extending beyond Darat Izza to neighboring areas. Syria Civil Defense condemned the attacks, cautioning against the increased use of these weapons by regime forces to target civilians deliberately. The systematic nature of these assaults not only endangers innocent lives but also undermines the already strained humanitarian response in the area.

The ongoing conflict in Syria has inflicted immense suffering on civilians, who now face the added danger of suicide drones employed by the Assad regime and its allies. For residents of Darat Izza and other affected areas, the threat of further attacks looms large, casting a shadow of fear and uncertainty over their daily lives. As the Assad regime, Russia, and Iran persist in their use of deadly tactics, it’s innocent Syrians who continue to bear the brunt of relentless violence and destruction.
