In a new step to support digital creativity and enhancing the role of new media in building societal awareness, the “Script” conference for content creators launched in Aleppo under the slogan “Influencers for Syria.”

The conference commenced with the presence of the Minister of Information, Hamza al-Mustafa, and the Governor of Aleppo, Azam al-Ghareeb, along with the participation of more than 380 influencers and experts in digital media.

Mustafa said the conference represents a qualitative leap and is the first of its kind in Syria, adding, “Just as influencers played a role in the liberation process, we are now discussing with them how their positive impact can contribute to the reconstruction phase that has begun in Syria, especially since the Syrian government is preparing to launch a development fund dedicated to rescuing affected areas and emptying camps so that all Syrians can return to their homes.”

According to Ghareeb, “We come together hoping to emerge with a code of conduct uniting us all to establish the fundamental principles for creating meaningful content and influence.” He also expressed his gratitude to all the attendees of the conference who played a significant role in supporting the cause of the Syrian people.

Syrian and Arab contributions at the conference included Samah Arabi, Director of Syrian Airlines, who stated, “The Script conference is a very important event for Syrian Airlines, and it is essential for us to be part of this event. We accepted the invitation to be one of the key sponsors of the conference and to be present and supportive of Syrian and Arab influencers.”

Journalist Hadi al-Abdallah confirmed Syria needs all voices to participate in the construction battle, which is no less difficult than the liberation battle, especially with the imminent announcement of the development fund by the presidency. He added Syria urgently needs these influencers to make Syria’s voice heard again around the world so the world can see the revival Syria is experiencing. “We aspire for Syria to be the next destination for influencers worldwide.”

The conference included panel discussions and various activities for content creators participating in the Script conference. A workshop titled “Journalist and Influencer: Similarities and Differences in Role and Responsibility” was held to discuss the essential differences between traditional media and content creation and ways to integrate them to serve common societal goals.

The conference is considered one of the most important events held in Aleppo since its liberation, and one of its main objectives is restoring hope for Syrian youth while improving the digital reality and content creation. It also represents a step towards investing digital energies to promote vital sectors in Syria’s reconstruction.
