Tourism Ministry Opens Hotel in Latakia to Foster Tourism

Minister of Tourism Mazen al-Salhani and Governor of Latakia Muhammad Othman, inaugurated the Park Plaza Hotel in Slanfeh, Latakia after its complete restoration. Its new look combines authenticity and sophistication, reflecting the unique identity of the town of Slanfeh, in a move aimed at supporting tourism and bolstering the local economy.

Salhani noted that the timing of the opening, at the end of the current tourist season, comes in preparation for the upcoming season and to promote winter tourism. He said we can classify the hotel as the first winter tourism project in the governorate equipped with all the necessary winter tourism facilities, including an indoor winter spa and sauna rooms.

He added that the project’s main objective is to provide the largest number of job opportunities for the people of the region. Salhani indicated the tourism sector in Latakia is excellent, clarifying that new contracts for constructing large tourist resorts have been signed.

Gov. Othman highlighted the joint efforts made to develop the tourism sector, referring to coordination with the Tourism Ministry to primarily promote tourism in Latakia Governorate. He underlined the success of these efforts in attracting tourists from within Syria and from several countries, such as Jordan, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, in addition to attracting a number of foreign tourists, which has created good publicity and given an excellent impression of the governorate.

The governorate is, says Othman, “working steadily on major tourism projects in Latakia Governorate, which will provide new destinations for tourists, attract investors, and provide significant job opportunities for the people of the governorate, contributing to improving the local economy.”

The reopening of the hotel, which dates back to 1929, represents a qualitative shift in the tourism infrastructure in Slanfeh. It aims to provide high-end hotel services that meet visitors’ expectations and contribute effectively to revitalizing economic and tourism activity throughout the year, particularly during winter.
