As the international community showers Assad’s regime with millions of dollars in aid, it showers the Syrian people with shells and rockets. Twenty-one days after the region’s most devastating earthquakes in a century, the regime of Bashar Assad shells three villages and the outskirts of the city of Idlib.
Today regime forces have shelled Kafarya, Fuaa, Neyrab, and Idlib City, most of which are populated by IDPs, previously displaced from their homes and villages by brutal Russian and Assad bombing campaigns.
As Assad and his supporters attempt to paint him in the light as a humanitarian or offer their condolences for the “suffering of the Syrian people” it is conveniently overlooked that the same regime that is receiving hundreds of planes of humanitarian aid is the very same one that is currently bombing the very same people the aid is intended to help.
Since the February 6th earthquakes which rocked northwestern Syria Assad’s troops have bombarded over 25 villages or towns on an average of every other day. Despite these ongoing attacks on civilians the international community continues to send Damascus cargo planes of aid and “condolences” for the people of Syria.
