Amidst the harsh winter conditions in Syria, the Syrian Salvation Government (SSG) Ministry of Endowments and Dawah and Guidance Zakat Authority has launched an initiative to provide essential support to families in need. The “Warmth of Winter” campaign, aims to distribute a million dollars in aid to assist over 20,000 vulnerable families across various regions.
The distribution of this substantial sum of money, equivalent to 1,500 Turkish lira (approximately $50 USD) per family, is part of the SSG’s commitment to alleviating the hardships faced by those in urgent need. The beneficiaries of this initiative encompass 6,500 families in dire circumstances, 8,500 general cases, and 5,000 families residing in IDP camps who have not received aid from other organizations.
The impact of this campaign is palpable as the General Authority for Zakat diligently carries out the distribution of funds to eligible recipients. From the IDP camps to the countryside of Salqin to the town of Kafr Kermin and its surroundings, the Zakat Authority is actively reaching out to those in need, ensuring that the warmth of winter reaches every corner of the region.
In Termanin and Idlib City, the campaign provided financial assistance to the poor, widows, and orphans. Similarly, in the city of Idlib, the General Zakat Authority is extending support to widows, the needy, and orphans as part of this significant initiative.
The impact of the “Warmth of Winter” campaign is further evident in locations such as Armanaz, Darat Izza, Tel Al-Karama, and beyond, where the teams are actively disbursing funds to impoverished families, ensuring that the spirit of compassion and solidarity prevails during the challenging winter months. The project has sent teams to various areas to hand deliver the assistance house-to-house. In other areas, teams have set up centrally located distribution stations in local mosques or community centers.
The SSG’s obligation to address the needs of vulnerable communities through the “Warmth of Winter” campaign has provided aid at a time when many outside organizations have stopped assisting. As the distribution of funds continues, the impact of this initiative will undoubtedly provide much-needed relief to families facing adversity, embodying the spirit of hope and resilience in the face of hardship.
