New Clinics and Dialysis Center Expand Care Across Idlib Countryside

As part of ongoing efforts to improve access to healthcare services, the Idlib Health Directorate, in cooperation with Al-Ameen Organization, Insan Charity, Hand Humanitarian Organization and the UN Development Program (UNDP), has opened a new dialysis center in Jisr al-Shughur alongside several health facilities across the Idlib countryside.

Officials say the projects aim to ease pressure on patients and support the safe return of displaced residents. The newly opened kidney dialysis center in Jisr al-Shughur is the first facility of its kind in the area.

The center allows patients to receive dialysis treatment locally instead of traveling long distances to Idlib city and other areas for care. Health officials said the facility currently serves around 80 patients out of approximately 1,200 dialysis patients across the province.

Authorities also announced plans to establish additional dialysis centers in Saraqib and Khan Sheikhoun. The expansion is expected to reduce overcrowding in Idlib city hospitals, which receive patients from several provinces because of the quality of available medical services.

New Facilities Offer Specialized Services

The initiative also included the opening and rehabilitation of several health centers throughout rural Idlib, each providing a range of medical services tailored to local needs. The Deir al-Sharqi Health Center now includes general and pediatric clinics, family planning services, a laboratory, a pharmacy, a mental health unit and a 24-hour emergency department supported by an ambulance service.

Meanwhile, the Regional Supervisory Center in Maarat al-Numan provides vaccinations, physical therapy, hearing and speech rehabilitation, reproductive healthcare and family education programs. In Hazarin, residents gained access to a new health center offering emergency care, general medical services, obstetrics and gynecology, and pharmaceutical support.

The tour concluded at the Kafr Nabl Health Center, which officials described as the most comprehensive facility among the new openings. The center includes emergency and pediatric departments, dental and gynecology clinics, a laboratory, vaccination services and a pharmacy.

Officials Link Projects to Stability

Deputy Health Minister Dr. Hussein al-Khatib said the ministry remains committed to expanding healthcare infrastructure across Idlib province. He noted that the Kafr Nabl Health Center resumed operations after undergoing renovation and equipment upgrades, allowing it to provide a wider range of services.

Idlib Gov. Muhammad Abdurahman said the projects reflect continued coordination between the Health Directorate and humanitarian organizations working in the region. He added that healthcare, education and infrastructure rehabilitation remain among the most urgent needs for local communities.

Idlib Health Director Dr. Samir Araby said the projects would help reduce financial and transportation burdens on patients, particularly those living in remote areas. He added that health authorities plan to continue expanding specialized medical services throughout the province to improve living conditions and support long-term stability.
