The recent attacks on civilians in Aleppo and Idlib, Syria, have once again brought to light the devastating impact of the ongoing conflict in the region. The Assad regime forces have been accused of targeting villages and towns in Idlib and Aleppo, resulting in the loss of innocent lives and causing widespread suffering among the civilian population.
Reports indicate that civilians have been killed and wounded as a result of artillery shelling and missile attacks by the Assad regime forces. Yesterday, a woman was killed, and others were injured, including an elderly woman when their house in the village of Afes, in the eastern countryside of Idlib, was targeted. Additionally, a civilian car was struck by a guided missile in the village of Taqad in the western countryside of Aleppo, resulting in further civilian casualties.
The Syrian Civil Defense, also known as the White Helmets, has been actively responding to these attacks, highlighting the alarming frequency of such incidents. The use of guided missiles, against civilians, by the Assad regime forces has been particularly concerning, posing a serious threat to the lives of residents and impeding their ability to carry out everyday activities, such as working on their farms.
The Civil Defense has reported a significant number of attacks by Assad regime forces on northwestern Syria at least 138, including four assaults on markets, four schools, three mosques, and civilian homes. These attacks have resulted in the tragic loss of lives, killing 10 people, including two children and a woman, and wounding more than 60 others, including 17 children and five women. From these attacks at least three used incendiary munitions. The situation in Idlib and Aleppo remains dire, with civilians bearing the brunt of the conflict.
