The Fath al-Mubeen Operations Room (FMOR), a coalition of revolutionary factions defending the liberated areas in northern Syria, has significantly bolstered its readiness to repel any assaults by the Assad regime and its allies. With a fortified defensive posture and ongoing retaliatory strikes, FMOR has shown resilience in the face of increasing aggression from Assad regime forces, supported by Iranian militias, Russian forces, and Hezbollah.

In the latest escalation, seven members of the Assad regime’s forces were killed or wounded in shelling carried out by FMOR across the Aleppo and Idlib countrysides. On Friday, FMOR forces targeted regime positions on the Basraton axis, west of Aleppo, with a guided missile, killing four soldiers and injuring three others. This marks a significant blow to the regime’s attempts to advance into liberated areas.

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), one of the key factions within FMOR, launched a series of artillery and missile strikes on regime positions in Saraqib and the western Aleppo countryside. These strikes, aimed at military positions in Dadikh and Orem al-Kubra, achieved direct hits, according to local sources. The 46th Regiment, a regime stronghold west of Aleppo, was also targeted as part of these retaliatory efforts.

The Assad regime responded with artillery and missile barrages on FMOR-held positions in southern Idlib and western Aleppo, and by attacking civilians in several villages including Maarbalit, Safuhen, and Al-Fatirah in Jabal Al-Zawiya, as well as Taqad, Kafr Ammah, and Kafr Taal in Aleppo’s countryside. Civilian areas have been the primary target of regime strikes, continuing the long-standing pattern of shelling residential zones in an effort to displace populations.

In recent months, FMOR has expanded efforts, in reinforcing defenses and launching targeted counter-attacks on regime positions. The coalition reported shooting down 17 weaponized drones in September alone. According to military statistics published by FMOR’s media outlets, they conducted more than 250 military actions against regime forces in the past month, using snipers and precision-guided artillery and rocket attacks in the Idlib, Aleppo, and Hama countrysides.

A spokesperson from FMOR told L24, “We are prepared to defend the liberated areas and respond forcefully to any aggression. Every attack on civilians will be met with decisive action,” the spokesperson said.

Northern Syria has seen an increase in civilian casualties in recent weeks due to regime shelling. Schools, homes, and vital infrastructure have been repeatedly targeted, leading to more displacement and deepening the humanitarian crisis in the region. In return, FMOR has focused its retaliatory strikes on regime military positions and key installations.

Analysts suggest that the Assad regime’s recent military activity in northern Syria could be a precursor to a broader offensive aimed at reclaiming liberated areas in Idlib and Aleppo. However, FMOR’s defensive measures have complicated the regime’s plans. With their forces strategically positioned, FMOR remains on high alert, ready to repel any further advances by regime troops or allied militias.
