A Sijil Center report documented 239 violations by Israeli forces in Syria during June, marking a 17% increase from the 205 incidents recorded in May, according to the organization’s latest monthly report. Despite the increase, the figure remained below the 254 violations documented in April and well below the yearly peak of 321 incidents recorded in March.

The report says the increase halted a downward trend that followed March’s peak and reflected continued intensive Israeli military activity in the southern governorates of Quneitra and Daraa. From the beginning of 2026 through the end of June, the center said it documented at least 1,298 violations.

Raids Reach Highest Monthly Total

The report documented 28 military raids during June, the highest monthly total recorded by the center since late 2024. According to Sijil, the operations targeted civilian homes and farms in villages across Quneitra and Daraa and included searches, resident interrogations, property damage and temporary detentions.

The center said Israeli occupation often deployed military convoys exceeding 30 vehicles during the raids. It cited the storming of the municipality building in Umm Batna on June 14, the overnight detention of two children during a June 7 operation in Jabatha al-Khashab and the reported beating of shepherd children in Rafid on June 8.

The report also described what it called a shift in Israeli tactics from temporary incursions to longer-term military positioning. It cited the occupation of Tell Abu Qubays for approximately 12 hours on June 23, the establishment of permanent military tents near Abdin on June 28 and the installation of iron gates west of Rafid that it said restricted farmers’ access to their land.

Quneitra Remains Main Focus

According to the report, Quneitra accounted for 182 of the documented incidents, while Daraa recorded 57. Ground incursions represented the largest category with 87 operations, followed by 50 military and reconnaissance flights, 30 temporary checkpoints and 28 raids.

The center also documented 13 civilian detentions during the month. It said all but one detainee were released within hours. In addition, researchers recorded 10 artillery shelling incidents targeting agricultural land, hills and open areas, as well as 21 other incidents that included gunfire, excavation work, fortification of military positions and the installation of fencing and barriers inside Syrian territory.

The report highlighted an escalation in the village of Abdin on June 27 and 28, where it said large scale incursions, house searches, drone activity and artillery fire displaced residents. Sijil also reported that a crew from Syria’s Al-Ikhbariyah television came under fire while covering the events.

Civilian Toll Remains Under Review

The center said it did not document any civilian deaths in Syria during June. It reported that 36 Syrian civilians were killed by Israeli attacks since Dec. 8, 2024. The report also noted that the Israeli military announced on June 27 that it had killed “two militants” near Hadar in Quneitra, but Sijil said it could not independently verify their identities or the circumstances of their deaths.

According to the report, 227 Syrians have been abducted by Israeli forces since Dec. 8, 2024, with 47 reportedly still in disappeared as of July 1. The organization said its findings are based on a network of field observers and cooperating activists who monitor developments in southern Syria.
