Damascus Hosts Major Specialized Trade Exhibitions

The Syria Specialized Exhibitions 2026 series officially opened the last week of June at the Damascus Fairgrounds, bringing together over 400 local, Arab, and international companies. Organized by Tayyara Group for Exhibitions and Conferences, the exhibition series runs through July 3.

It combines three major events: the Syrian International Exhibition for Construction, Building, and Infrastructure (TechnoBuild), the Energy, Electricity, and Industrial Automation Exhibition (Syria Energy), and the Syrian International Industrial Exhibition (SINEX).

Following the opening ceremony, Minister of Public Works and Housing Mustafa Abdurazaq highlighted the significance of the exhibition series, emphasizing the integration of the construction, industry, and energy sectors. “This integration makes it a specialized economic platform for strengthening cooperation and partnerships between various sectors,” Abdurazaq said.

The minister said the exhibitions provide important opportunities to build partnerships and attract investment between local and foreign companies, reflecting the close links among these vital sectors. He added the event offers a practical model for public-private sector cooperation, while the participation of Arab and international companies demonstrates growing interest in investment opportunities in Syria.

Abdurazaq also pointed to improvements in the investment climate, supported by government measures and administrative facilities. He said discussions are underway with several local and foreign companies, particularly in the real estate sector, with a number of proposed projects still undergoing legal review before implementation.

Exhibition Sector Shows Signs of Recovery

Muhammad Hamza, director general of the Syrian Corporation for Exhibitions and International Markets, described the event as an important economic milestone reflecting the recovery of Syria’s exhibition sector. “The event provides an integrated platform to showcase the latest products and technologies and facilitate the exchange of expertise among local, Arab, and international companies,” Hamza said.

According to Hamza, the Corporation is working to organize specialized exhibitions meeting local market needs while expanding opportunities for cooperation between the public and private sectors. These efforts are intended to encourage investment, strengthen commercial and industrial partnerships, support reconstruction efforts, and boost national production. “The wide Arab and international participation confirms Syria’s return to hosting major economic and specialized events,” he added.

International Participation Supports Investment

Moaffak Tayyara, director general of Tayyara Group for Exhibitions and International Conferences, said the 2026 exhibition series plays an important role in supporting economic and investment activity, particularly during the reconstruction phase.

According to Tayyara, this year’s event covers more than 20,000 square meters and features 410 participating companies, including 210 foreign firms. Turkey has the largest foreign presence, followed by China and several other countries.

“The strong international turnout for exhibitions in Syria confirms the sustained interest of foreign companies in the Syrian market,” Tayyara said, while acknowledging the support of the Syrian Corporation for Exhibitions and International Markets in organizing the event. The exhibition has attracted business leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, and industry professionals seeking to explore new technologies and develop commercial and investment partnerships.
