Under the patronage of the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management, the launch conference for the FORTIX 2026 exhibition was inaugurated in Damascus. The event introduced FORTIX as a specialized platform dedicated to security and safety, bringing together nearly 100 participants.
Those in attendance included government officials, representatives of public institutions, economists, technical specialists and ambassadors. The initiative comes within the framework of national efforts to enhance security and safety standards and to support Syria’s development and reconstruction process.
Humanity and Safety at the Core of the Initiative
In remarks to Levant 24, the Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management emphasized the central message of the conference is rooted in humanitarian values. He explained that FORTIX aims to position peace and security as essential foundations for stability, not optional components.
The minister noted the exhibition showcases “smart solutions: provided by leading tech companies, offering products and services designed to protect workers during construction, secure homes, and safeguard industrial, commercial and service activities. He stressed ensuring security and safety has become a fundamental requirement for sustaining work, investment and recovery in Syria.
Addressing the challenges facing the initiative, the minister explained that Syria previously lacked an integrated framework dedicated to peace and security of this nature. He said the ministry is working to build this framework from the ground up, and that the conference plays a key role by bringing together major companies and innovators capable of supporting the establishment and expansion of the FORTIX model.
Strong Momentum and Broad Participation
Osama al-Nasser, executive director of the FORTIX 2026 Organizing Committee in Damascus, told Levant 24 there is a clear and unified will across state institutions and ministries to engage in reconstruction, each within its area of specialization.
“All sectors require security and safety,” Nasser said, adding discussions are already underway to conclude multiple agreements related to the exhibition’s fields of focus. He noted several agreements are being negotiated and will be announced at later stages. Regarding participation, Nasser said expectations point to significant international involvement, potentially exceeding 500 international entities alongside Syrian companies.
Safety as a Pillar of Development and Investment
Assistant Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management Ahmad Aqziz described the exhibition as an institutional platform aimed at defining and consolidating concepts related to security and safety in Syria.
He said one of the exhibition’s primary objectives is creating a meeting point for local and international experts to exchange knowledge on the latest technologies in early warning systems, occupational health and safety, and disaster preparedness.
Aqziz explained the ministry is making substantial investments in preparedness and readiness, placing health and safety among the most critical foundational factors. He stressed that safety measures are also a key pillar of national development and investment plans, noting that promising projects require robust health and safety standards to attract investors.
He confirmed that the exhibition aligns directly with the Ministry’s broader National Disaster Risk Reduction Plan, in which health and safety across all sectors is considered a fundamental and cross-sectoral component.
A Platform for Innovation and Cooperation
The FORTIX exhibition is designed to bring together government institutions, the private sector and specialized companies. It highlights the latest trends, technologies and services in security and safety, industrial security, digital identity systems, information security and related infrastructure. Organizers say the platform reflects Syria’s efforts to institutionalize safety and resilience as cornerstones of recovery, stability and long-term development.
