Assad forces continue to profit off forced displacement

Activists on social media circulated images documenting regime forces looting a hospital in the eastern countryside of Idlib.

The images shared show doors, windows, and wall covering materials looted from al-Hassan hospital in the city of Saraqib.

The Assad regime had taken control of the city of Saraqib on February 5, 2020. Upon entering the city, the SAA looted the property of civilians who had left the city and fled towards the border areas.

It is noteworthy that the Assad regime and Iran rely heavily on the theft of property, real estate, lands, and crops of displaced Syrian civilians to finance their activities.
