This week, the Directorate of Agriculture in Jisr al-Shughur conducted a field tour of the citrus orchards in Darkoush countryside to check them and identify the problems that hinder harvesting and ways to solve it.

The Director of Agriculture, Engineer Abdel Qader Hamidi, said, “We visited the citrus orchards in the countryside of Darkoush, as citrus cultivation between Jisr al-Shughur and Darkush is in abundance with a lot of varieties.”

He added, “The aim of the tour is to give the farmers agricultural guidelines and to identify problems that hinder harvesting.”

Hamidi mentioned, “The role of the Directorate of Agriculture is to make frequent visits to the cultivated fields in the liberated areas, to guide farmers, to detect fungal infections and insects that cause great damage to agricultural crops, and to guide farmers in tackling issues.”

Recently, the Directorate toured olive and pomegranate orchards as they are one of the most important produce in Idlib and its surroundings.
