Damascus Medical Expo Draws Global Industry Leaders

The 19th Medical Care Exhibition 2026 opened at the Damascus Fairground, bringing together over 100 local, Arab and international medical companies. Held under the patronage of the Ministry of Health and organized by the United Company for Exhibitions and International Conferences, the event features a broad range of medical, laboratory and dental equipment, pharmaceutical products, hospital supplies and healthcare services.

The exhibition highlights developments across the healthcare sector while providing a venue for companies, institutions and professionals to present new products and technologies. Organizers say the event is designed to support investment, encourage cooperation and strengthen the role of Syria’s medical and pharmaceutical industries.

Forum for Scientific Exchange and Industry Growth

After touring the exhibition pavilions, Health Minister Dr. Musab al-Ali told SANA the event serves as both a scientific and economic platform, bringing together healthcare institutions, scientific bodies and pharmaceutical companies to exchange expertise and explore opportunities for cooperation.

Ali praised the participation of the Damascus Health Directorate, the Physicians and Pharmacists Syndicate and the Syrian Drug Producers Union, describing them as important partners in strengthening the healthcare system.

He noted a dedicated Pharma Tech section has been established for pharmaceutical industries, reflecting their role in supporting drug self-sufficiency and encouraging local innovation and production. Ali said the exhibition provides an opportunity to promote Syrian pharmaceutical products and expand access to regional and international markets.

The minister added the event helps strengthen cooperation between the public and private sectors while supporting pharmaceutical security and national industries. He said these efforts could have positive effects on both healthcare services and the broader economy.

International Participation Highlights Recovery Efforts

Ayman Shamaa, general director of the United Company for Exhibitions and International Conferences, said the exhibition holds particular importance for the Syrian market as demand for modern medical technologies continues to grow.

He noted that Syria’s medical sector is gradually recovering and said exhibitions such as Medical Care provide an important marketing and professional platform. According to Shamaa, the event enables public and private sector institutions to access new technologies while encouraging the exchange of expertise among companies and healthcare organizations.

Expanding Opportunities for Medical Innovation

Muhammad Hamza, general director of the Syrian Establishment for Exhibitions and International Markets, said the exhibition brings together companies and institutions specializing in pharmaceuticals, medical equipment and laboratory technologies. He said the event offers participants an opportunity to learn about the latest products and solutions while strengthening connections among specialists, producers and academic and healthcare institutions.

Hamza added that the Establishment is working to revive specialized exhibitions across Syria by creating professional platforms that connect businesses, government agencies, academic institutions and medical professionals.

The exhibition includes representation from 365 foreign agencies across 37 countries, in addition to participating Turkish companies. Organizers say the event aims to facilitate scientific exchange, attract investment, support domestic industries and introduce advanced medical, pharmaceutical and laboratory technologies while helping Syrian products reach new export markets.
