Under the slogan We Resemble Each Other, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) is participating as the “guest of honor” at the 62nd Damascus International Fair, which kicked off Wednesday August 27 at the Damascus International Fairgrounds after an absence of several years. The event saw extensive local and international participation, with approximately 800 companies taking part.
Saudi participation, led by several government agencies and the private sector, affirms the strength of the ties between the Syria and the KSA. The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) explained this presence reflects the Kingdom’s leadership’s keenness to enhance economic cooperation and develop bilateral trade, opening new horizons for Saudi goods and services in the Syrian market.
Participating parties emphasized that the slogan chosen by the Kingdom for the exhibition, “We Are Similar,” is not just words. Rather, it reflects shared values and a true cultural and economic rapprochement, creating a favorable environment for cooperation and joint investment between the two sides.
Government and Private Sector Participation
Saudi participation is not limited to a symbolic presence, but includes a strong institutional presence aimed at strengthening relations on the ground. The Saudi delegation includes several active government agencies, including the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Investment, the Saudi Export Development Authority, the Saudi-Syrian Business Council, and the Saudi Export-Import Bank.
In addition, over 80 Saudi national companies from various sectors are participating, aiming to highlight the competitiveness of Saudi products and services in regional markets and strengthen trade and investment relations.
An Opportunity to Strengthen Ties
Saudi authorities revealed that the exhibition will witness the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding between the two sides in vital and promising sectors, most notably energy, renewable energy, investment, and trade. Such agreements are expected to contribute to opening new horizons for economic integration between the two countries and building strategic partnerships that benefit their economies.
This broad Saudi participation comes within the framework of the Kingdom’s strategic direction to expand its presence in the largest regional and international exhibitions and consolidate its commercial partnerships in various markets. It also directly supports the achievement of the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the economy away from dependence on oil and increase the contribution of non-oil exports to the gross domestic product.
The Damascus International Fair, with its strong return, is a prominent economic and cultural platform, with the organizing committee having completed all logistical and technical preparations to welcome thousands of visitors and interested parties over the coming days.
