The Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce (FSCC) is intensifying its efforts to strengthen economic relations with European partners, particularly Germany and Austria, through a series of official visits and high-level meetings aimed at opening new trade and investment opportunities.
Engagement with Germany’s Business Community
As part of this initiative, an FSCC delegation is undertaking an official visit to Germany at the invitation of the Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The visit includes meetings with German business leaders, representatives of the Syrian business community, and officials from the German Chamber of Commerce.
Discussions focus on enhancing bilateral economic cooperation, learning from Germany’s advanced industrial and commercial experience, and exploring prospects for joint ventures and trade expansion. The visit builds on previous engagement efforts, including the Syrian-German-Austrian Economic Forum held in Damascus last October, which laid groundwork for deeper cooperation.
Strengthening Economic Cooperation with Austria
In parallel, the FSCC hosted an Austrian diplomatic delegation to discuss expanding Syrian-Austrian economic and investment relations. Talks focused on encouraging Austrian companies and agencies to increase their presence in the Syrian market across various sectors, enabling access to high-quality Austrian products and expertise while boosting bilateral trade.
The Austrian side expressed appreciation for the Federation’s role in facilitating investor engagement and supporting market entry. Both sides agreed to organize a Syrian-Austrian Economic Forum in Vienna next year as a platform to translate dialogue into concrete partnerships.
A key outcome of discussions was the announcement that Austrian Airlines is finalizing arrangements to launch direct flights between Vienna and Damascus. This step is expected to significantly facilitate business travel, enhance connectivity, and support investment exploration between the two countries.
Economic Diplomacy with a Practical Focus
These engagements reflect the FSCC’s broader strategy to reconnect the Syrian economy with international markets, highlight available investment opportunities, and address practical obstacles to trade, including transportation and logistics. By transforming dialogue into targeted bilateral initiatives, the Federation aims to convert growing European interest into sustainable economic partnerships that support Syria’s recovery and long-term development.
