The 12th Syria Hi-Tech Information and Communication Technology Exhibition opened at the Damascus Fairgrounds, bringing together 150 companies representing 345 brands from 45 Arab and foreign countries. The event is sponsored by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
The exhibition showcases a range of technologies and applications, including informatics, internet services, smart cities, e-government systems and electronic payment solutions. It also features mobile devices, laptops and innovations across the ICT sector. Organizers say the event provides a meeting point for research centers, universities, and both industrial and government institutions.
Focus on Digital Transformation Efforts
Minister of Communications and Technology Abdulsalam Haykal described the exhibition as an important platform for advancing digital transformation and innovation. He said infrastructure development and attracting investment remain key priorities, alongside supporting national industries and strengthening competitiveness.
Haykal noted connecting international technology providers with local startups can help transfer knowledge and build capacity. He added progress in the sector depends on clear planning, targeted investments and continued support through specialized events. According to him, Syria’s digital transformation is becoming more defined, contributing to market development and economic activity.
Companies Highlight Opportunities and Growth
Participants pointed to growing interest in Syria’s technology sector. Speaking with Levant24, Ahmad Salihini, general manager of Tecor Telecom in Damascus, said the company’s second participation reflects its continued engagement in the market. He noted that the company aims to present new services while building partnerships with other firms.
Salihini said the company has invested in Syria for over a decade, including work on early 4G and 5G networks in northern areas. He described the current environment as an opportunity for investors, pointing to ongoing efforts to improve the business climate.
Mustafa Maddeha, sales manager at Muhammad al-Khawam Modern Technologies Company, tod Levant24 the exhibition shows noticeable development compared with previous years. He highlighted the range of technologies on display and expressed optimism about future growth, particularly with continued government support.
Zain, representing UTECH Technology in Tartous, said the company is using the exhibition to expand its reach nationwide. He added initial feedback from both local and international participants remains positive, though a full assessment will depend on follow-up with clients across different regions.

The exhibition reflects broader efforts to strengthen the country’s technology sector while expanding its regional connections. Increased participation from international companies and continued involvement from local firms point to gradual movement within the industry. While challenges remain, events such as Syria Hi-Tech highlight ongoing attempts to build capacity, encourage investment and promote innovation within the ICT sector.
