LAST 24 HOURS OF THE ISRAEL-GAZA WAR

• The Gaza war is ongoing, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dismissing what he labels as “false media speculation” suggesting a potential halt to the fighting. Netanyahu has declared that Israel will expand its Gaza ground offensive in the coming days. Meanwhile, records seen by the Associated Press indicate that an Israeli strike at the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza killed at least 106 people.

• According to the Gaza health ministry, about 250 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, were killed, and 500 were injured in the past 24 hours.

• The Israeli army acknowledges that it is engaged in a “complex and complicated war,” with a significant number of soldiers killed in recent days.

• Efforts mediated by Qatar to broker a second ceasefire and facilitate hostage exchanges seem to have faltered. Israeli officials are now turning to the Egyptian channel in hopes of making progress.

• The Israeli military continues its bombing campaign in Gaza, issuing evacuation orders to civilians. The UN reports that the latest evacuation order affects 150,000 people in the middle of the territory.
